Art Basel Qatar returns in January with Wassan Al-Khudhairi as artistic director
The second edition runs 28–30 January 2027 in Doha, with a bigger programme of large-scale immersive projects.
Art Basel Qatar will return to Doha Design District and M7 from 28 to 30 January 2027, with preview days on 26 and 27 January. The Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi, founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, is the artistic director, taking over from Wael Shawky.
The 2027 theme is between / بين. The fair keeps the curated format of its first edition, which was made up entirely of solo presentations, and will expand its Special Projects sector with larger-scale immersive presentations, details to be announced.
Why it matters: immersive Special Projects are where digital and media artists are most likely to find a place in the fair. Watch for the announcement.
