# M7's director on five years of building Doha's creative hub

Maha Al Sulaiti, who has led M7 in Msheireb Downtown Doha since it opened in 2021, is the cover star of Harper's Bazaar Qatar's autumn issue. In the interview she looks back on how quickly the hub for design, fashion and technology has grown, and on hosting the first regional edition of Art Basel at M7 and Doha Design District in February.

She describes M7 as an incubator and connector: resident partners run their own programmes, and M7 builds routes for local and regional brands into international markets through its Global Edit initiative. Next on the calendar is a retrospective of the designer Erdem later this year.

**Why it matters:** M7 is one of the few Gulf institutions working across design, fashion and technology at once, and it is one of the two venues of Art Basel Qatar in January.
